McLaren gets ready for its show
Do you remember Ferrari’s lavish season-opening celebration in Milan, organized to welcome Lewis Hamilton in red? It can’t really be said to have brought much luck to the Prancing Horse team: the dream of competing for the world title was immediately shattered by the reality of a car that was not competitive enough to challenge the MCL39 built by the McLaren team in Woking.
It is precisely the papaya team, reigning Constructors’ World Champion and dominant force at the start of this season, that has decided—with a more solid reason—to celebrate its return to the top in recent years with a special event to be held in the days leading up to the British Grand Prix, scheduled for July 6 at Silverstone. On the Wednesday and Thursday of that week—July 2 and 3—the quintessential British team will attempt to ‘conquer’ London.
Objective: paint Trafalgar Square papaya
McLaren has announced a special event on those dates at Trafalgar Square, one of the UK capital’s iconic landmarks, offering entertainment and excitement for its fans. The event aims to give enthusiasts a complete taste of the F1 world and motorsport in general, as McLaren is highly active in several categories beyond Formula 1.
Visitors will be able to tour the papaya garage, get an up-close look at some of the cars that have shaped McLaren’s history, try their hand at simulators, meet team members live on stage, and of course purchase all the official team merchandise. The fan zone will be free and open to the public, and McLaren has said more details will be announced closer to the event. Papaya fans have been warned: fun is guaranteed.
