Oscar Piastri doesn’t make excuses for his 4th place in the Miami qualifying, but he believes he can still fight for victory today.
F1 Miami, Piastri starts fourth
Unlike the previous weekends, Oscar Piastri wasn’t perfect on Miami’s Saturday. While the Australian had bad luck, especially in direct comparison with Lando Norris during the Sprint, in qualifying the championship leader didn’t deliver a sufficient performance, getting beaten not only by his teammate but also by Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli.
#81 doesn’t make excuses and admits that his performance wasn’t as good as he hoped, but he believes the MCL39 gives him the chance to fight for victory even from dirty air.
Oscar Piastri’s words
“Certainly, there are still some aspects of our car that we want to address, and driving it to the limit is one of them,” admitted Oscar Piastri. “This weekend, the car had enough pace to be in pole, it’s just that unfortunately, I didn’t do the job I should have.”
“We’ve always thought that if we make mistakes, we’ll get beaten, and that’s been true so far. The races have always been close, the gaps have always been very small, and potentially our advantage has been a bit bigger on Sunday. A hot GP might help us a bit, but qualifying always makes a big difference, so it won’t be easy to make progress, although I trust the car.”
