Oscar Piastri proud of his 2025: “It’s only the beginning of my journey”. Oscar Piastri reviews his 2025 F1 season.

Oscar Piastri, McLaren, 2024

Oscar Piastri is proud of his 2025 season, a year that he largely led before experiencing a drop in form after the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.

Piastri and a future already mapped out

Modern Formula 1 waits for no one: you need to perform immediately, or you risk falling behind. For young drivers, being part of an Academy can make it easier to emerge, but the lack of testing puts newcomers at a greater challenge compared to the past. When a rookie performs strongly from the start, they deserve extra praise. In this regard, Oscar Piastri is one of the most solid and mature drivers of his generation, capable of winning races and consistently fighting for podiums with a competitive McLaren.

In his third year in Formula 1, the Australian contended for the title, ultimately falling short due to a late-season drop that also sparked some unfounded speculation. Piastri showed moments of very high performance, but also periods where his results dipped, losing crucial points just as Max Verstappen continued to maximize every opportunity and Lando Norris found the decisive edge to win his first championship. However, these competitors have at least twice Oscar Piastri’s experience. For this reason, the Australian is happy with his 2025, which he describes as a year of growth and learning.

Piastri’s words

“If at the start of the year someone had told me I would take poles, wins, and podiums, I would have been very happy,” Oscar Piastri explained. “I also think that even in the difficult moments, I learned a lot about myself and how to improve for the future. Of course, there’s a bit of disappointment at the end, but I’m very proud of the season I had and of the many lessons I can take with me.”

“If I compare this season to my first two years in F1, I realize that this year was by far better than the first two. Even though the final result isn’t exactly what I wanted, I proved to myself what I can achieve,” he added. “I can certainly continue like this in the future. It’s only my third year in Formula 1. I hope to have many more opportunities ahead, but the lessons I learned this year, both on and off the track, will only make me stronger.”

Oscar Piastri’s 2025 campaign therefore solidified his status as a future World Champion in waiting. While the headlines often focused on the battle between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri’s ability to remain calm under the spotlight of a championship fight suggests that he has the mental fortitude required for the long haul. With the 2026 regulations on the horizon, the “lessons learned” in 2025 might just be the foundation for a maiden title in the years to come.
