He explained: “My motivation isn’t to prove I’m better than anyone else. I’m not going to wake up saying, ‘I’m happy because I beat Max.’ Honestly, deep down, I don’t care. Just as I don’t care if every article questions whether Oscar or Max are stronger or weaker than me.”
“I just did what I had to do to win the championship and made my loved ones happy: at the end of the day, that’s all that matters to me. I’m world champion, and that makes me smile, but it’s not what makes me wake up happy. All I need is for my family and friends to be happy.”
This perspective marks a significant shift in the typical “champion’s psyche” often seen in the paddock. While his predecessor focused on total dominance, Lando Norris seems to prioritize emotional fulfillment and stability. As he prepares to defend his title in 2026, the question remains whether this “gentle” approach can withstand the pressure of being the man everyone is trying to hunt down.
