Oscar Piastri drives McLaren legends for team celebration: behind the scenes at Woking. McLaren celebrated its 2025 Constructors’ Championship by treating employees to a special event.

McLaren celebrated its 2025 Constructors’ Championship by giving a special gift to its employees: Oscar Piastri took the wheel of a historic car from the British team.

After the Constructors’ Championship victory in Singapore, many fans noticed Oscar Piastri was absent from the podium celebrations. The Australian driver had stayed in the interview area while the team’s mechanics and engineers enjoyed the championship win.

Some speculated that Oscar Piastri’s absence reflected frustration with the team’s driver management by Andrea Stella and Zak Brown. However, social media videos later showed that Piastri joined his team in the pit lane, congratulating them on the achievement.

A special gift for McLaren employees

Footage from McLaren’s headquarters in Woking revealed more surprises. On social media, videos showed Oscar Piastri driving two iconic cars from the team. In the first, he circled the lake at the Woking facility in the MCL39, the car that had just secured the Constructors’ Championship.

The second vehicle offered a truly unique experience. Oscar Piastri drove the legendary MP4/6, the car with which Ayrton Senna won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1991. For the employees present, this was an unforgettable moment, combining nostalgia, history, and the excitement of seeing a current championship contender behind the wheel of a true F1 icon.

McLaren’s gesture not only celebrated its success in 2025 but also offered a deeply emotional connection between the team’s past and present, highlighting the importance of both heritage and teamwork in the sport.
