Oscar Piastri addresses Red Bull rumours as Max Verstappen future questions continue. Oscar Piastri has responded to speculation linking him with Red Bull.

Oscar Piastri has addressed growing speculation linking him with a potential move to Red Bull, making it clear that while such rumours are flattering, he remains fully committed to McLaren and confident about the team’s future prospects.

The Australian driver found himself drawn into the latest wave of Formula 1 transfer chatter during the Canadian Grand Prix weekend in Montreal, where the paddock once again became a breeding ground for speculation about the future of Max Verstappen.

Oscar Piastri linked to Red Bull amid Max Verstappen rumours

One of the most talked-about early images from the Montreal paddock showed Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff in a relaxed conversation with Jos Verstappen, father of four-time world champion Max Verstappen. Unsurprisingly, the photographs only added fresh fuel to the persistent rumours suggesting Max Verstappen could one day make a sensational move to Mercedes.

If that scenario were to become reality, Red Bull would be forced to rethink its driver line-up — and according to recent reports from Motorsport media circles, Oscar Piastri would be among the names high on Laurent Mekies’ shortlist as a possible replacement.

The suggestion is hardly surprising. Oscar Piastri has continued to strengthen his reputation as one of Formula 1’s most impressive young talents, combining pace, consistency, and race intelligence in a way that naturally attracts attention from rival teams.

Oscar Piastri responds to Red Bull speculation

Speaking during Thursday’s media sessions ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri admitted he had not been involved in any conversations with Red Bull, but did not hide his satisfaction at hearing his name linked with one of Formula 1’s top teams: “I wasn’t aware of it,” Oscar Piastri said. “Obviously there haven’t been any discussions or anything like that, but it’s nice to hear.”

The McLaren driver suggested that even speculative links can be interpreted as recognition of a driver’s value within the Formula 1 paddock: “There’s not really much more to add, to be honest. I hope it highlights my value as a driver, which is a positive thing.”

However, Oscar Piastri left no doubt about where his current focus remains.

“But I’m very happy where I am. I have a lot of confidence in McLaren, and I believe we’ll be able to win races and championships in the future. So I’m very happy where I am.”

McLaren’s growing momentum makes Oscar Piastri’s stance understandable

Oscar Piastri’s response reflects McLaren’s increasingly strong position in the current Formula 1 landscape. While Red Bull remains one of the sport’s benchmark organisations, McLaren’s continued technical progress and long-term project have made Woking an increasingly attractive place for ambitious drivers.

For Oscar Piastri, who continues to establish himself as a serious front-running talent, remaining with a team he believes can fight for victories and championships may offer greater stability than becoming entangled in a hypothetical Red Bull reshuffle.

Of course, Formula 1’s driver market can evolve quickly, especially when Max Verstappen’s future becomes part of the conversation. But for now, Oscar Piastri’s message from Montreal was simple: the speculation may be flattering, but his commitment remains with McLaren.
