One of the most awaited announcements of the season has arrived. In 2025, Valtteri Bottas officially returns to Mercedes after already racing with the Brackley team. The Finnish driver thus returns to the team that made him a Grand Prix winner and with which he won 5 Constructors’ Championships.
Valtteri Bottas, who is currently driving for Kick Sauber, the team that will eventually become Audi, has chosen to leave the team with which he raced for the last three years. At Mercedes, the Finnish driver will take on the role of third driver and tester, effectively leaving his seat as a full-time F1 driver.
Valtteri Bottas has now had a decade-long career in F1 and is undoubtedly a driver with vast experience. Born in 1989, the Finnish driver made his F1 debut in 2013 with Williams and raced with the British team until his move to Mercedes in 2017.
Valtteri Bottas’ F1 past
It was with Mercedes that he secured 10 F1 wins and 20 pole positions. Not only that, but he finished second in the Drivers’ Championship for two consecutive seasons, in 2019 and 2020, the golden years of Mercedes, during which he helped the team secure the Constructors’ titles.
At the end of the 2021 season, Valtteri Bottas said goodbye to Mercedes to make way for young George Russell. The Finnish driver then joined Alfa Romeo alongside Chinese driver Guanyu Zhou. From that moment, Valtteri Bottas and Zhou became teammates for 3 seasons.
This current F1 season for Valtteri Bottas is certainly the most difficult, with Kick Sauber struggling to achieve good results. At the end of the current season, Valtteri Bottas will return to the Brackley team, where he will reunite with Toto Wolff and join George Russell and Kimi Antonelli.
