With only a few races left in the 2024 Formula 1 season, the stage is set for the biggest market bomb to unfold: Lewis Hamilton may move to Ferrari, fulfilling a lifelong dream, while the young Italian will take his place at Brackley.
The very young Italian seems to have something in common with the seven-time World Champion. In recent months, the British driver has been a mentor to Antonelli, helping him adapt to the team and supporting him throughout the process that led to the signing of his contract. There appears to be a correlation in their data as well: reports suggest they have a similar driving style.
“I didn’t expect it; [Lewis Hamilton] is very nice to me and talks a lot,” Antonelli explained to Sky Sport during the Festival dello Sport in Trento. “Looking at the data, his driving style seems similar to mine. I was in Singapore, and listening to him talk with the engineers, I learned a lot. I’ll need to get used to hearing all the engineers in my ear because I’m someone who doesn’t talk much.” – he explained – “But if they’re talking, it’s to provide useful information. I’ll have to learn the procedures well because if you press the wrong button, it’s a mess,” the Italian joked. “Soon, I’ll get a steering wheel at home to practice starts and various procedures.
