Melbourne 2026: Oscar Piastri honoured with a dedicated fan grandstand at his home race. Oscar Piastri will have a dedicated grandstand at the 2026 Australian Grand Prix.

The fanbase of Australian driver Oscar Piastri continues to grow at an impressive pace, and from 2026 it will have an official place to gather at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne, thanks to the creation of a grandstand dedicated entirely to him and his supporters.

The birth of the Piastri grandstand
The first half of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship has represented the definitive breakthrough for Oscar Piastri in the eyes of the wider global audience. The McLaren driver from Melbourne, who is only in his third season in Formula 1, has already achieved extraordinary results: six race victories, twelve podium finishes in the opening fourteen Grands Prix of the season, and the leadership of the Drivers’ Championship at the summer break. He currently holds a nine-point advantage over his McLaren team-mate Lando Norris, confirming the team’s dominance in this phase of the championship.

Oscar Piastri is now officially a superstar of the Formula 1 paddock, and his reputation can only continue to grow in the coming years. A symbolic and highly visible recognition of his rising status has now arrived directly from the organisers of the Australian Grand Prix. Together with Formula 1 management, they have decided to honour Piastri with a grandstand dedicated to him and his fans at the Melbourne circuit for the 2026 Australian Grand Prix, which will also mark the opening round of the season.

The practice of creating dedicated grandstands for popular drivers has become a tradition in recent years within Formula 1. It represents a small but important public acknowledgement of a driver’s growing popularity, a way of recognising that a competitor has built a fanbase large and passionate enough to fill an entire section of the race track. In the past, such tributes have been reserved only for drivers with huge home support, and the fact that Oscar Piastri now joins this exclusive group underlines his meteoric rise in the sport.

Oscar Piastri himself shared the news directly with his fans through his social media accounts. In a video message published for the occasion, the young Australian star expressed both pride and disbelief at this unique honour:

“Next year, in Melbourne, for the Australian Grand Prix, I will have a grandstand all of my own – and this is something quite surreal. It already feels strange enough to be racing at home. I still feel like I am the kid who was just listening to the cars speeding around the circuit, let alone actually driving them now. So having a grandstand with my name on it is really fantastic and very special. It will be located on the main straight, and from there you should even be able to see me in the garage. That will be incredible. I will see you all there, and we will also be giving out some merchandise, so there will be free gifts for the fans. I just wanted to share this news and say that I am really excited. Thanks to everyone who has worked behind the scenes to make this project possible. There are a lot of logistical details to take care of, and I am grateful to everyone involved. I cannot wait to see you all there in March.”

This announcement not only confirms Oscar Piastri’s rising popularity at home in Australia, but also marks his arrival as a global star of Formula 1. For a young driver still early in his career, being honoured with a grandstand at his home race is a powerful recognition of his impact both on and off the track. Fans from all over the world are expected to flock to Melbourne in 2026 to watch the opening race of the season, and the Piastri Grandstand will undoubtedly be one of the most vibrant areas of the Albert Park Circuit.
