Will Max Verstappen leave Red Bull? Following the official move of Gianpiero Lambiase within the Red Bull structure, several doubts have emerged regarding the Dutch driver’s long-term future with the team. Laurent Mekies has firmly denied any suggestion that Verstappen’s future at Red Bull could depend on departures or new arrivals within the squad:
“Absolutely not. That is my direct answer,” he said. “Of course, we speak with Max every day. And Max knows the world of motorsport like the back of his hand. He lives and breathes this team. He knows most of these people. He fully understands the dynamics that can develop,” he added.
“The team has enjoyed enormous success, and you cannot promote everyone. And some people make certain decisions,” he concluded.
During this month without on-track action, Red Bull has been working intensively at Milton Keynes, with the clear objective of improving both feeling and overall performance with the RB22. The focus has been on extracting more consistency and pace from the car as the season enters a crucial phase.
All that remains now is to wait for the first free practice session to understand whether Isack Hadjar and Max Verstappen will be able to fight for stronger positions and close the gap to their main rivals.
In summary, Laurent Mekies’ firm stance highlights the stability within the Red Bull garage despite recent organizational shifts. By emphasizing Verstappen’s deep connection to the team and his understanding of professional turnover, Mekies aims to silence speculation about a potential exit. As the 2026 season resumes, the focus remains on the RB22’s development, with the hope that internal stability will translate into a return to dominant form on the track. Only the upcoming practice sessions will reveal if these efforts have been enough to bridge the gap to their rivals.
