Isack Hadjar is not intimidated by the so-called Red Bull second driver “curse”. The young Frenchman, recently promoted to the main team alongside reigning champion Max Verstappen, is showing remarkable confidence despite the long list of teammates who have struggled under the Dutchman’s dominance.
With the new 2026 regulations reshaping the competitive landscape and theoretically bringing the field closer together, Isack Hadjar is backing his own abilities and embracing the challenge head-on:
“Of course I’ve thought about it, in a way. You look at the gaps to Max’s teammates and you think: ‘Wow, that’s strange’. But I’m realistic. It’s a new regulation set, same car. If I believe I’m good, then I am — end of story. Over the first three races, everything has gone as I expected. It’s a small sample size, the car is what it is right now, very difficult to drive. But I’m not too far off, and I’m happy with how I’ve performed in the first three races with the car I had. Overall, it’s good.”
Isack Hadjar’s words reflect a mindset built on self-belief rather than fear of comparison, something essential when lining up in the same machinery as one of the most dominant drivers in modern Formula 1.
While many before him have struggled to match Verstappen’s pace, the early signs suggest that Isack Hadjar is approaching the challenge with clarity and composure. The real test, however, will come over a longer stretch of the season, as consistency, adaptability, and mental resilience become decisive factors.
For now, though, the French rookie remains calm, focused, and quietly confident that he can carve out his own path within Red Bull — regardless of the weight of history.
Isack Hadjar’s early-season performance and defiant mindset suggest that he is well-equipped to handle the unique pressures of the Red Bull garage. By focusing on his own development rather than the daunting shadow of his teammate, he is carving out a space for himself in this new 2026 era. As the season heads into the European leg, the focus will be on whether the young Frenchman can continue this positive trend and finally provide the stability Red Bull has sought for years.
