F1 | Verstappen dominates Austin Sprint but raises rear-end warning
Max Verstappen continued his dominant march in the 2025 championship by claiming victory in the Sprint Race at the United States Grand Prix in Austin. After a flawless start and a brief safety car interruption caused by the first-lap McLaren incident, the Dutch driver controlled the race with authority, securing another win that consolidates his position in the title fight.
Speaking to Sky Sport F1 after the race, Verstappen showed an unusual note of caution. “The start was good, then of course the safety car came out for the first-lap incident. After that, we had some difficulties finding the pace again, and we need to understand what happened there. But in any case, we won the Sprint, which is the most important thing.”
Despite the satisfaction of victory, the four-time world champion admitted that the Red Bull is not yet perfect in rear-end handling. “On the radio, I said the rear wasn’t feeling great. We definitely have some ideas on what we can do. Hopefully, things will be a little better tomorrow, and the car will be more stable.”
This is a clear message to the Red Bull garage ahead of Sunday’s race, where Verstappen expects a closer battle with McLaren. “I think tomorrow we need to be a bit better in race setup to challenge McLaren because we didn’t really see them today.”
Verstappen’s Austin Sprint victory confirms his consistency and strength, but the real test against Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri is only just beginning.
