Max Verstappen has become a father: Kelly Piquet has welcomed their first child together, making the four-time world champion a dad for the first time.
Max Verstappen and Kelly Piquet are now parents: their first child has been born, marking the four-time world champion’s debut into fatherhood. Last December, the couple announced the happy news through a social media post. According to David Croft, the baby girl has already been born, which explains Verstappen’s absence from Thursday’s media day in Miami.
Months later, the Brazilian blogger was spotted shopping in preparation for the baby’s arrival. Recently, Helmut Marko confirmed that the birth of baby Verstappen would not interfere with “any of Max’s track activities.” In fact, Verstappen departed for Miami on Thursday afternoon via his private jet from Nice and will be present in Miami from Friday as planned.
The Red Bull driver skipped Thursday’s media day to stay in Monaco with his family. In a press release, the Austrian team stated that his absence from the paddock was due to him being “about to become a father.”
Together since 2020, the couple began officially dating the following year. Kelly Piquet already has a daughter, Penelope, born in 2019 from her previous relationship with former Red Bull driver Daniil Kvyat.
“Marriage? Me? Now that you’ve put me on the spot publicly, I have to set a date! I don’t know. Time will tell. Right now, I’m very, very happy with Kelly,” Verstappen said last year when asked when he would marry his partner. “Personally, I haven’t set a date to get down on one knee. That should happen spontaneously.”
