Max Verstappen has expanded an already remarkable Formula 1 record by winning at a 27th different circuit following his victory in Singapore. The Red Bull driver now sits second on the all-time list for the number of different F1 venues conquered, putting Lewis Hamilton’s benchmark of 31 increasingly within sight.
Among the circuits on the 2026 calendar, the newly introduced Madrid venue is now the only one where Max Verstappen has never won. With Portugal and Turkey returning to Formula 1 in 2027, the four-time world champion could have further opportunities to add new circuits to his growing list.
Singapore becomes Max Verstappen’s 27th winning F1 circuit
The Singapore victory carried special significance for Max Verstappen because Marina Bay had been one of the relatively few circuits where he had never previously stood on the top step of the podium.
His latest triumph means the Dutchman has now won a Formula 1 Grand Prix at 27 different circuits during his career.
That places the Red Bull star second in Formula 1 history in this particular ranking. Lewis Hamilton remains ahead after winning at 31 different circuits, giving Max Verstappen another statistical target to pursue.
The F1 circuits where Max Verstappen has never won
One of the most striking elements of Max Verstappen’s record is how few circuits remain where he has competed repeatedly without securing a victory.
Sochi is now the only venue where Max Verstappen has raced more than twice without ever winning. The other circuits where the four-time world champion has competed but never reached the top step are the Nürburgring and Mugello, where he raced only once during the unusual 2020 season, as well as Madrid, Istanbul and Portimão.
Madrid was introduced to the Formula 1 calendar in 2026, and Max Verstappen has already secured a second-place finish there. That makes the Spanish circuit the only current 2026 venue where he has yet to win.
Portugal and Turkey give Verstappen new chances in 2027
Two of the remaining circuits on Max Verstappen’s winless list will return to Formula 1 in 2027. Both Istanbul Park and Portimão will be back on the championship calendar next season, giving the Red Bull driver another opportunity to complete unfinished business.
Max Verstappen has raced at each circuit only twice, in 2020 and 2021, but was unable to win at either venue.
Their return therefore creates an intriguing statistical opportunity. If Max Verstappen manages to win at Madrid, Portimão and Istanbul, he would reach 30 different circuits with at least one Formula 1 victory.
The return of Portugal and Turkey is one of the major changes to the confirmed 2027 Formula 1 calendar, giving Max Verstappen two more chances to add to one of the most impressive records of his career.
Lewis Hamilton’s 31-circuit benchmark moves closer
Lewis Hamilton remains the reference point with victories at 31 different circuits, but Max Verstappen’s Singapore success has reduced the gap to four venues.
A successful 2027 campaign at Madrid, Portimão and Istanbul could take the Dutchman to 30, leaving him just one circuit short of Lewis Hamilton’s total.
For a driver who has already turned victory at so many different types of venue into a defining feature of his Formula 1 career, the next statistical pursuit is already taking shape.
