Lando Norris emerged as the best of the rest in the Sprint race at the 2026 British Grand Prix, climbing from sixth on the grid to claim an impressive third-place finish at Silverstone. While Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Lewis Hamilton fought for victory at the front, the reigning Formula 1 World Champion produced an excellent recovery drive to secure a well-deserved podium for McLaren.
Lando Norris pleased with his Sprint performance
After the Sprint, speaking with David Coulthard, the British driver expressed his satisfaction with both his race and the unexpected result.
“I think it was a great race, and I’m really happy. I made a good start, had a strong opening lap, there were plenty of overtakes and counter-overtakes, and I had a great battle with George Russell. I’m pleased and positively surprised.”
Attention already turns to qualifying and the Grand Prix
Despite the encouraging podium, Lando Norris immediately shifted his focus to the remainder of the Silverstone weekend.
“Now all the focus is on tomorrow’s race, starting with qualifying this afternoon. There are still a few things we can improve on the car. So far we’ve started the weekend well, and I’m looking forward to the rest of it with confidence.”
His comments reflect a measured and composed approach. Although delighted with an unexpected podium in the Sprint, the McLaren driver remains fully focused on extracting even more performance from his car as the battle continues in qualifying and Sunday’s British Grand Prix.
Lando Norris therefore put in a stellar performance at Silverstone, securing a hard-fought podium and setting a positive tone for the rest of the British Grand Prix weekend.
