Max Verstappen isn’t willing to wait
When faced with the choice between short-term gains and long-term potential, Max Verstappen has no doubts—he picks the present. The four-time world champion is eager to return to the track and see if Red Bull has managed to overcome the challenges of 2024 or if those issues persist with the RB21. There’s no sign of complacency or slow progress toward the regulatory overhaul of 2026. Max Verstappen is laser-focused on securing his fifth title, even though he doesn’t consider himself the favorite.
Max Verstappen’s comments
“In the background, there’s 2026, but the rules aren’t fully clear yet; they keep changing a bit. So, we can’t fully commit to that season; we still have to look at 2025,” he told RacingNews365.
“We can’t forget that 2025 exists while putting all our focus on the upcoming regulations. Nobody knows what will happen in 2026, with the car components still evolving. 2025 remains a very important year, and we want to do well.”
With new regulations coming for both cars and engines, the vehicles will be smaller and lighter (despite the added weight of the power unit), featuring extensive active aerodynamics to complement the electric components. Teams will only be able to begin work on these projects starting January 1, 2025.
