Ahead of his first-ever appearance in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, Max Verstappen has made it absolutely clear what his objective for the weekend is: victory. The Red Bull driver will take part in the legendary endurance race behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo entered by Verstappen Racing, sharing driving duties with Daniel Juncadella, Jules Gounon, and Lucas Auer. Although this will be his debut in the iconic Nordschleife event, Max Verstappen arrives with valuable experience built through GT3 competition as well as countless virtual endurance races on the demanding German circuit over recent years.
“One of the most important races of the year is obviously the Nürburgring 24 Hours, and that’s why we’re here. We are competing with a professional lineup, with me in the car as well, and that’s really fantastic. It’s something I want to do every year, with one or even more cars. The main objective is to win races.”
The Dutch driver left no room for ambiguity when explaining what success would mean for him this weekend, underlining the competitive mindset that has defined his motorsport career across every category.
“For me, success means winning. It’s very simple, and that’s why we’re here. I know it won’t be easy, but that’s the objective for everyone. At the same time, though, I’m really looking forward to experiencing the whole event, sharing the car with my teammates, and working together throughout the weekend.”
Max Verstappen also reflected on the unusual route that helped prepare him for one of the most demanding circuits in world motorsport, highlighting the major role sim racing played in his development and familiarity with the Nordschleife.
“For me, it all started in the simulator. I did thousands of laps to learn the track, and I took part in several virtual 24-hour races at the Nürburgring. When I got out on the real circuit, knowing the layout was not the problem. I had to understand the kerbs, the grip levels, and how the real car behaves with G-forces and compression. Sim racing definitely helped me massively to be competitive straight away.”
With his natural speed, extensive simulator preparation, and a highly experienced GT3 lineup around him, Max Verstappen will undoubtedly be one of the most closely watched names at this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours, as Formula 1 fans eagerly follow his latest challenge outside the Grand Prix paddock.
Verstappen’s transition from the F1 paddock to the grueling “Green Hell” highlights his relentless drive to compete at the highest level across multiple disciplines. By bridging the gap between high-end simulation and real-world endurance racing, he continues to demonstrate a modern approach to driver development that prizes versatility and technical precision. As the lights go green at the Nürburgring, the eyes of the motorsport world will be on the Verstappen Racing Mercedes to see if the reigning F1 champion can add one of GT racing’s “Triple Crown” events to his ever-growing trophy cabinet.
The synergy between professional sim racing and actual track performance has become a cornerstone of Verstappen’s preparation, proving that virtual laps are now an essential tool for mastering complex circuits like the Nordschleife. This article reflects how modern elite athletes are redefining the boundaries of specialized racing by pursuing excellence in every category they enter.
