Verstappen beyond F1, the documentary “New Ground” is coming
The new three-part docuseries Max Verstappen – New Ground premieres today in the Netherlands on the Viaplay platform. The series follows the four-time Formula 1 World Champion in his ‘other sporting life,’ as the head of his own racing team, Verstappen.com Racing. In addition to highlighting Verstappen’s role as a team manager, the series also focuses on his work turning sim-racer Chris Lulham into a professional racing driver.
“Viaplay and I have been working together for many years to show what motor racing really is,” the Red Bull driver commented. “It’s not just about results, but also the work, dedication, and passion behind it. ‘New Ground’ tells the story of exploring new territories in the world of motorsports, learning, and gaining experience along the way. It’s about the challenge and love for racing, and I’m happy to share this journey with Viaplay viewers.”
The three episodes are scheduled to release on February 10, 17, and 24 on Viaplay. At the moment, the platform is available only in the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway.
The launch of New Ground therefore provides fans with a deeper understanding of Max Verstappen’s commitment to motorsport beyond his own achievements in Formula 1. By focusing on his role as a mentor and team owner, the documentary highlights his passion for developing new talent and bridging the gap between digital and physical racing. While the limited availability of the series on Viaplay may be a hurdle for global fans, the project underscores Max Verstappen’s long-term vision to leave a lasting impact on the racing world through his Verstappen.com Racing initiative.
