A Challenging Year
The 2024 season concluded smoothly for Max Verstappen, further cementing his place in Formula 1 history with the victory of his fourth consecutive world title. However, despite this achievement, the season was not a straightforward triumph for Red Bull’s #1, marked by a dip in car performance during the second half of the championship and several incidents that made his title defense more difficult.
The Most Draining Moment
Among all the challenges throughout the year, Max Verstappen singled out one particularly stressful moment in August, specifically at the Hungarian Grand Prix: “I think it was quite eventful, let’s put it that way,” he said to Red Bull’s official channel. “I’d rather not think about that weekend.” At the Hungaroring circuit, Lando Norris gained ground on Max Verstappen after finishing second behind Oscar Piastri in a McLaren one-two finish. Meanwhile, the Dutchman only managed fifth place, a race that also saw him involved in a collision with Lewis Hamilton at the first corner.
A Relaxing Finale
On the other hand, the calmest moment of the 2024 Formula 1 season (according to Max Verstappen) came during the final GP of the championship in Abu Dhabi, even though the Dutchman was involved in another collision, this time with Oscar Piastri: “There was nothing left to fight for,” he continued. “The championship was already decided for both drivers and constructors. That’s why I think it was less stressful—it didn’t matter much what the result was, and it had no influence on the championship.” – the four-time Formula 1 world champion concluded.
