Max Verstappen comments on new Red Bull Team Principal: “It takes time”
Laurent Mekies has stepped in as Red Bull’s new Team Principal following the removal of Christian Horner from the role. The bombshell announcement came in July, and despite the summer break, the drivers have already had some time to form an impression of the “new arrival.” Max Verstappen has now shared his perspective.
“It takes time”
“He joined us quickly, had two weeks and then there was another break. So things don’t change that fast,” said Verstappen.
“I like his approach. And it seems that everyone in the team is in a positive mood. We just need to keep going like this. It’s not as if when someone is appointed to lead, in two weeks or two months everything can change drastically. It takes time,” the Dutchman added.
Christian Horner had been Team Principal for the outfit for twenty years, so it is clear that the internal dynamics cannot shift overnight. Even so, a shared positive atmosphere within the team is always an encouraging sign.
Christian Horner’s presence had become a source of problems within the team despite the many victories of recent seasons. Now it is up to Laurent Mekies to prove his abilities and guide Red Bull into its next chapter.
