The agreement exists, but not in F1: Max Verstappen and Aston Martin will collaborate on a new racing team. This is a project long announced by the Dutch driver, which will make him the owner of a team. From the initial details that have emerged in recent hours, the choices of the four-time world champion are clear.
Max Verstappen’s passion for racing goes far beyond Formula 1. The Dutchman, who one day hopes to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (perhaps alongside Fernando Alonso), enjoys testing almost any car made available to him. His goal, made clear several months ago, is to establish his own racing team.
A dream that seems to be coming closer to reality. According to reports from SoyMotor, citing Endurance-Info, the four-time world champion has chosen the cars he will use: Aston Martin Vantage GT3s, which he will field in the GT World Challenge Europe. The team’s base has already been set, and now only the official driver lineup is awaited.
From the Simulator to the Track: A Sim-Racer in the Team?
A familiar name in Max Verstappen’s circle is Thierry Vermeulen. Also Dutch, he has experience in both DTM and GT World Challenge. Not only that, but his manager is Jos Verstappen, while his father is the manager of the reigning world champion himself. It is almost certain that the project will involve Red Line, the sim racing team long associated with Verstappen.
Some believe that Max Verstappen is ready to give a chance to a “virtual” driver, making the jump from simulator to real racing—similar to what was done over a decade ago by the GT Academy program launched by Polyphony Digital with Gran Turismo 5. Others, however, suggest that this agreement with Aston Martin could open the door to entirely different negotiations.
