Liam Lawson strengthens Racing Bulls’ P5 advantage over Alpine after Singapore

Liam Lawson, RB, 2026 F1

Liam Lawson helped Racing Bulls strengthen its hold on fifth place in the Formula 1 Constructors’ standings with another valuable points haul at the Singapore Grand Prix. After scoring in both the Sprint and Sunday’s race at Marina Bay, the New Zealander helped the Faenza team extend its advantage over Alpine to 32 points ahead of the United States Grand Prix.

The battle for fifth in the Constructors’ Championship once again went Racing Bulls’ way in Singapore. While Alpine failed to finish inside the top 10 with either driver, Racing Bulls added more points through Liam Lawson and increased the gap between the two teams.

Liam Lawson scores in both the Singapore Sprint and Grand Prix

Alpine endured another difficult weekend, with Pierre Gasly finishing 11th while Franco Colapinto was forced to retire because of technical problems. Racing Bulls, by contrast, reached the points with Liam Lawson.

After an excellent fifth-place finish in the latest Sprint of the 2026 season, Liam Lawson completed his Marina Bay weekend in seventh place in the Grand Prix, matching the result he had achieved at the previous race in Sepang.

“I’m very happy with the result,” Liam Lawson said. “I had a really good start on the Soft tyres and managed to make some overtakes. I then maintained good pace throughout the race, so it was great to bring home six points.”

“I’m very proud of the team and, overall, these have been positive weeks as we continue our fight for fifth place in the championship. Next week I will focus on simulator work before heading to Austin, which hosts the first race of the next three-Grand-Prix run. I’m really excited to maintain this form for the rest of the season.”

The championship now moves towards the 2026 United States Grand Prix in Austin, where Racing Bulls will aim to protect and potentially increase its advantage over Alpine.

Arvid Lindblad endures more difficult Singapore weekend

Arvid Lindblad had a more complicated weekend. Starting ninth on the grid at a circuit he had never previously raced at, the British driver struggled to make the same progress and eventually finished the Grand Prix in 15th position.

However, Liam Lawson’s performance was enough to ensure Racing Bulls will arrive at the United States Grand Prix with a 32-point advantage over Alpine in the fight for fifth place in the Constructors’ standings.

“I’m not particularly happy with my weekend here in Singapore,” Arvid Lindblad admitted. “I had a difficult start, which affected the rest of the race. At the first corner I got boxed in between other cars and had to brake hard, losing more positions at a circuit where track position is crucial.”

“We’ll analyse the weekend and identify the areas where we need to improve so that we can come back stronger for the remaining races. It’s been a busy few weeks, so I’ll use the break before Austin to completely switch off, reset and come back ready to give my best.”

Racing Bulls takes 32-point cushion into Austin

With Lawson scoring in both the Sprint and the main race, Racing Bulls has strengthened its position in one of the closest battles further down the Constructors’ standings. Alpine’s failure to score in Singapore allowed the Faenza squad to increase the margin at an important stage of the season.

The focus now turns to Austin, where Racing Bulls will attempt to carry its recent momentum into the next phase of the 2026 Formula 1 campaign while Alpine looks to reduce the 32-point deficit.
