Laurent Mekies praises Red Bull’s bold approach after near-perfect Austin weekend. Red Bull enjoyed a near-perfect weekend in Austin.

Laurent Mekies, 2025 F1

Red Bull is now just ten points behind Mercedes in the Constructors’ standings, with Ferrari sitting between them.

The team principal celebrates

Three wins in four races, both cars scoring points in the Sprint and the Grand Prix — Red Bull enjoyed a nearly flawless weekend in the United States, and the results are clearly reflected in the standings. Max Verstappen now sits 40 points behind Oscar Piastri in the Drivers’ Championship, while Red Bull has closed to within ten points of Mercedes in the Constructors’ table, with Ferrari separating the two teams.

Team principal Laurent Mekies reflected on what he described as a dream weekend for the Milton Keynes-based team: “This was definitely our brightest weekend in a very long time. On a scorching track, where we’ve struggled in the past, Max kept extending his advantage over the competition in every single session. From Friday to Sunday, the progress was clear to see. Once again, I want to thank everyone both at the track and back at the factory who took risks by pushing everything to the limit. It’s not easy, but the work they’re doing is incredible, and it’s paying off. They’ve managed to extract so much from the car. We never took anything for granted, constantly finding more performance as the weekend went on.”

Laurent Mekies also highlighted the impressive form of the team’s lead driver: “Max is driving at an unbelievable level and continues to raise the bar. We’ll keep our same approach heading into the next races, focusing on putting the best possible car on track in Mexico. Yuki also had a positive weekend — in the race he gained six positions, scoring some useful points to add to those collected in the Sprint. Finally, a big thank you and congratulations to our partners Mobil and Mobil 1 for celebrating our 75th victory together. It’s been a successful partnership, and we look forward to celebrating many more wins side by side.”

Historically, Red Bull has often performed well at the Mexican Grand Prix. Although the 2024 edition was an exception, the current momentum suggests that the earlier struggles to understand the car are now a distant memory. The Anglo-Austrian team will arrive at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez full of confidence and motivation.
