After his win in the 2024 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix, Lando Norris has reduced Max Verstappen’s lead to 52 points, with a Red Bull that so far has not seemed on par with McLaren, although things can change quite quickly.
Lando Norris warns that Red Bull and Max Verstappen “never die”…
“52 points are still a lot, especially when Max finishes second. The gap doesn’t close too quickly. I feel like I’ve had good performances over the last two months,” the Brit said to Channel 4 – “Different circumstances didn’t lead to results like Singapore. But I feel I’ve been performing at this level over the last two, three, four weekends. I wish I could be closer in the championship. We’ve taken things seriously, and we’re moving forward.” – he added.
In Singapore, Lando Norris was the undisputed dominator of the weekend, though during the race he risked hitting the barriers three times.
“I was the fastest all weekend and dominated the race, it makes you feel good. It’s good motivation for the team. I’m happy, but we have to keep working hard because I’m sure Red Bull will catch up with us. I want my races to be nice and easy!” – the McLaren driver pointed out.
McLaren has clearly been more competitive than Red Bull recently. There are six races left, and we need to push to the maximum. Also, as Lando Norris himself stated, this break will have surely helped Red Bull “to figure things out. We’re doing well at the moment. I want to keep going! To hell with the break, let’s go straight to Austin. The team is doing an amazing job, but we’re up against Red Bull. People keep writing them off too quickly and too easily. When you’re up against Red Bull, you’re up against Max. They’ve dominated the sport in recent years. I feel like people are relaxing too much. When you have Max and Red Bull behind you, are you pushing? They’ll do everything they can.” – the British driver concluded, ahead of the United States Grand Prix at COTA.
