Before heading to Austria for the next round of the Formula 1 season, Lando Norris was the star of a rather unusual and special event away from the racetrack.
A wax Norris
While he waits for McLaren to give him more reasons to smile consistently by providing a car capable of regularly challenging Mercedes and Ferrari, Lando Norris can at least take comfort in a version of himself that will remain smiling… permanently.
The famous Madame Tussauds wax museum in London has officially unveiled a statue depicting the British driver, naturally dressed in McLaren’s iconic papaya racing suit. Norris himself shared several behind-the-scenes moments on his social media channels, offering fans a glimpse into how the impressive wax figure was created.
“Seeing the finished figure and standing next to it is really surreal; it’s like looking at another version of myself,” Norris said. “I’m used to seeing myself in photos, videos or in the mirror, but this is actually me in 3D. The artists have absolutely nailed the details; it’s incredibly realistic.”
To complete the display, Lando Norris donated one of his McLaren race suits. “I wanted to do it so that fans can get a close look at something I actually wear when I’m racing and to make the figure as realistic as possible,” Norris explained. “I can’t wait for everyone to come and see it in London this summer, and I hope they enjoy visiting it.”
Norris’ wax figure will be open to the public from June 30 at the Madame Tussauds Baker Street location in London. It will stand alongside the figures of fellow Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton and Bayern Munich and England football star Harry Kane.
