Stroll didn’t insult the mechanics: Aston Martin and the team deny the reported outburst through the testimony of one of the Canadian driver’s crew members.
During the 2025 Spanish GP weekend, a story shook the paddock: according to the BBC, Lance Stroll allegedly damaged equipment in the Aston Martin garage and insulted some team members after a disappointing qualifying session in a fit of rage. However, official sources categorically deny this.
Aston Martin confirmed that Stroll’s frustration was unrelated to the physical issue that forced him to withdraw from Sunday’s race: pain in his hand and wrist, symptoms linked to the bicycle accident that had already affected him in 2023.
Lance Stroll vs. the mechanics? The response from the Aston Martin garage
Harry Rush, a team mechanic, commented on Instagram about the claims reposted by an F1 account quoting the BBC story: “Swore at team members? Absolutely not true.”
Rush publicly defended the Canadian driver, rejecting the idea that there was any improper behavior towards the team.
Mike Krack, Aston Martin’s Head of Trackside Engineering, explained the situation to SiriusXM: “Everyone remembers 2023, when Lance had problems after the bike crash. He underwent surgery at the time, and in recent weeks he’s continued to complain about pain, which kept getting worse.”
“Being a true driver devoted to his work, he endured more than he told us. After qualifying, he decided to get checked out—this shows how tough these guys are.”
Despite missing the race in Spain, Lance Stroll has scored 14 of the team’s 16 total points in 2025. Among his most notable results:
Sixth place in Australia in a chaotic race
Ninth place in China, capitalizing on Ferrari’s double disqualification
Points in the Miami Sprint as well
Although he’s ahead of Fernando Alonso in the overall standings, he has yet to beat the Spaniard in qualifying this season.
The story, therefore, took a different turn than initially suggested: Stroll didn’t insult anyone, but simply endured a difficult weekend made worse by a flare-up of a chronic injury.
