F1 | Antonelli heads into Monza’s bittersweet weekend: “I have amazing memories, but also really bad ones”
The annual trip to Monza is approaching, and Kimi Antonelli is ready to race at home. The summer break is over, and the drivers are preparing to return to the track. While the next stop is Zandvoort, some are already thinking ahead to the Italian Grand Prix. In the first weekend of September, Formula 1 will move to Monza, where Kimi Antonelli will contest his second home race of the season.
Before sharing his mixed feelings about Monza, Antonelli emphasized that his current focus is on the weekend at Zandvoort. This will be a crucial round for the Bolognese driver, who struggled to find momentum before the summer break amidst a series of challenges.
That said, the number 12 also spoke about the upcoming Monza race, recalling the emotions of the previous year. Kimi Antonelli made his first F1 appearance during the FP1 sessions at Monza 2024. Unfortunately, the weekend turned difficult when he hit the wall, ending his session early—a moment that left a strong mark on him. The following day, the story changed, as Mercedes and Kimi Antonelli officially confirmed his Formula 1 debut for 2025.
“Of course, I have amazing memories, but also really bad ones. As you said, it will be important to have a clean weekend, clean sessions, and forget what happened before. But yes, I think it will be a truly special weekend, and I’ll try to make the most of it,” Kimi Antonelli explained.
Monza represents a critical challenge for Kimi Antonelli, especially after some struggles at Imola. The Italian driver will need to balance enjoying the home race while managing his energy to stay competitive throughout the weekend. Will Kimi Antonelli succeed in relishing the Monza experience while keeping his focus sharp for the fight on track?
