Even off the track, Kimi Antonelli keeps busy and compassionate. The young F1 driver was recently spotted bringing a touch of Christmas magic to some of the youngest patients at Bologna’s Rizzoli Hospital.
While Formula 1 takes a break and drivers and teams enjoy a well-earned holiday before the 2026 season, Kimi Antonelli returned to his hometown of Bologna—but rest alone was not enough. Instead, the promising Italian driver decided to make a special visit to the children hospitalized at the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute.
Last Saturday, the Mercedes driver visited the institute to deliver Christmas greetings and personally hand out gifts to the young patients. The initiative was warmly received by children, families, and healthcare staff alike, turning an ordinary day at the hospital into one of joy, warmth, and shared celebration.
Antonelli spent time meeting the patients, distributing presents, taking photos, signing autographs, and sharing smiles, demonstrating genuine care and humanity toward children going through a difficult period of their lives.
Performances on and off the track
On the sporting side, Kimi Antonelli concluded a strong rookie season. After some challenges during the summer phase, the Bologna native achieved three podiums in Canada, Brazil, and Las Vegas, and secured his first career pole position during the Miami qualifying shootout.
Antonelli ended the year in seventh place in the drivers’ standings, just a few points behind Lewis Hamilton, whom he replaced at Mercedes. Despite numerous sporting commitments and a well-deserved break, he made time for this special hometown visit, highlighting his strong connection to his community and the values that extend beyond the racetrack.
A heartfelt gesture for staff and patients
The visit was not only meaningful for the patients but also for the healthcare professionals, who received Christmas wishes and heartfelt thanks for their daily dedication and professionalism. A simple gesture, yet rich in symbolic value, it reinforced a sense of community and solidarity.
The Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute expressed its gratitude on Instagram, emphasizing how initiatives like this can contribute to the emotional well-being of patients, especially children, during the festive season.
