Jos Verstappen credits Red Bull’s Baku upgrades after Max Verstappen’s Sepang win

Max Verstappen, Jos Verstappen, 2024

Jos Verstappen has praised Red Bull after Max Verstappen’s victory at Sepang, describing the result as an enormous boost for the team following a particularly difficult period during the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Max Verstappen’s win in Malaysia provided Red Bull with a major reward after months of work to understand the problems that had affected the car. For Jos Verstappen, the result was particularly significant because of the challenges the team has faced throughout the year.

“After all the difficulties this year, it’s really incredible,” Jos Verstappen said. “For the whole team, for all the people who work hard at the factory and who continue to work every day with a positive attitude, this victory represents a huge boost.”

Jos Verstappen also highlighted the work carried out by Red Bull’s engineers to identify the problems affecting the car and find solutions capable of restoring its competitiveness.

According to Jos Verstappen, the decisive change came with the upgrades introduced at Baku, after which the car’s behaviour improved significantly.

“All the respect goes to the team. They still managed to understand where the problems were coming from. And since the upgrades introduced in Baku last week, suddenly everything started working.”

Beyond the championship points gained at Sepang, the victory therefore provides Red Bull with an important boost in confidence and morale heading into the final part of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
