Johnny Herbert criticizes Max Verstappen: “Disrespectful and unprofessional behavior in Jeddah”. Johnny Herbert harshly criticizes Max Verstappen’s behavior after the Saudi Arabian GP.

Johnny Herbert pokes at Max Verstappen
Johnny Herbert is once again criticizing Max Verstappen over the penalty he received at the start of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The former British driver, who in recent months was permanently removed from the FIA Race Directorate due to comments deemed inappropriate by a steward about a current driver on the grid, did not appreciate the show put on by the Dutch Red Bull driver at the end of the race in Jeddah. The 60-year-old considered Max Verstappen’s behavior after the chequered flag and on the podium to be “disrespectful” and “unprofessional.”

Comment on Max Verstappen’s penalty
“I saw Max Verstappen,” explained Herbert, “drinking champagne on the podium and not celebrating with Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc, and it seemed unprofessional and disrespectful for someone who is a four-time world champion. Sometimes you have to show grace in defeat, and I don’t know how anyone can argue that it was an unfair penalty. People who say otherwise probably have never been in a race car, certainly not a Formula 1 car, so they don’t understand. And I include Christian Horner in that group. I know he’s the team principal and he’s trying to do the best for Red Bull, but sometimes you have to admit you’re wrong and give the place back. Most drivers know when that’s the right thing to do.”

“It was a completely justified penalty,” added Johnny Herbert, commenting on the five-second penalty hotly contested by the Milton Keynes team, during an interview with Beste Online Casino Nederland, “because when you go into a corner—especially a tight one like that—you need to be at the apex near the kerb. The apex wasn’t where Max was; he was two meters away from it. Horner then presented some supposed evidence to show who was ahead into Turn 1, but it was just a bunch of nonsense. It was an attempt to pass the blame onto the FIA and the stewards. That’s wrong, it shouldn’t be like that. Red Bull and Max Verstappen had the chance to give the place back and avoid the penalty, but they chose not to.”
