Isack Hadjar to Red Bull: Why the 2026 rookie reminds Peter Bayer of Max Verstappen. Red Bull confirms Isack Hadjar for 2026 alongside Max Verstappen.

Isack Hadjar, RB, 2025 F1

Isack Hadjar is preparing to take the challenging second seat at Red Bull in 2026. Will he be able to hold his own alongside Max Verstappen?

The young French driver faces one of the most demanding challenges of his early career: sharing the Red Bull garage with four-time world champion Max Verstappen in 2026. According to those who know him well, Hadjar shares more than one trait with the Dutch superstar. Perhaps these similarities will play in his favor when compared to his predecessors.

After an impressive debut season with Red Bull’s sister team, Racing Bulls, which earned him widespread recognition within the paddock, Isack Hadjar has been promoted to Red Bull. This decision came following Yuki Tsunoda’s departure. At just 21 years old, Isack Hadjar will now have to measure himself against a teammate as formidable as Max Verstappen.

Past experiences show that standing up to Max Verstappen is no easy task. Yet, the CEO of Racing Bulls, Peter Bayer, sees qualities in Isack Hadjar that could help him face the direct comparison with the Dutch driver.

“He is one of the hardest-working drivers I have ever seen and is extremely motivated,” Bayer explained. “He moved to Faenza to be close to the engineers and work with the team on a daily basis.”

Similarities with Verstappen

“I know comparisons shouldn’t really be made, but in some ways he reminds me of Max. He arrives in shorts and team overalls, and the only thing that matters to him is racing. He will do an FP1 session and then say: ‘You know what, Peter? I’d go straight to qualifying. I can’t wait to race.’”

Looking back at the highs and lows Isack Hadjar experienced over the season, Bayer highlighted another trait that links him to Max Verstappen: the ability to stay focused even during difficult moments.

“I’m glad he went through certain situations,” Bayer said. “It wouldn’t be human not to face challenging times, but overall his trajectory has been impressive. He has remained hungry, focused, and disciplined.”

This profile reveals significant potential and makes the upcoming internal battle at Red Bull even more interesting, as fans and analysts alike will watch closely to see how Isack Hadjar measures up against Max Verstappen in 2026.
