The Racing Bulls team left Silverstone empty-handed, missing out on points in a chaotic race that significantly reshaped the Constructors’ Championship standings—particularly in the midfield battle. Sauber now holds sixth place with 41 points, narrowly ahead of both Aston Martin and Racing Bulls, who are tied with 36 points each. With the standings tightening, the upcoming Belgian Grand Prix at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit has become even more crucial for the Faenza-based squad to bounce back and regain momentum before the summer break.
Racing Bulls drivers Isack Hadjar and Liam Lawson both shared their thoughts ahead of the weekend.
Isack Hadjar:
French driver Isack Hadjar is determined to end his recent run of poor results and return to the points at Spa, a circuit that holds special significance in his career.
“I am really looking forward to racing again this weekend on one of my all-time favourite tracks,” Hadjar explained. “Spa-Francorchamps is where I achieved my first-ever single-seater win, and it’s also where I secured a victory in last year’s Formula 2 season. It’s been frustrating not to score points in the last three Grands Prix, so I am very motivated to reclaim our rightful place in the top ten. The Sprint format this weekend gives us extra opportunities to fight, and I really enjoy that format. It should make for an exciting event.”
The young Frenchman has been under pressure to perform as the battle in the midfield intensifies, and the combination of his past success at Spa and the added stakes of a Sprint weekend could offer the perfect opportunity for a turnaround.
Liam Lawson:
For New Zealander Liam Lawson, the Belgian Grand Prix represents another important step in his adaptation to Formula 1. He, too, is eager to help the team score valuable points before the summer break begins.
“We are going to give everything to finish this first part of the season in the best possible way, especially as we approach the final two races before the break,” Lawson said. “Spa is such an iconic circuit with an incredible history. I’ve enjoyed racing here in junior categories, so I’m really excited to take it on now in a Formula 1 car.”
As always with Spa, unpredictable weather is likely to play a key role. Lawson added, “The forecast looks interesting this weekend, as it often does here. I’m feeling refreshed and fully recharged after our short break, and I’m ready to finish this opening half of the season on a high note.”
With both drivers feeling confident and the team hungry for points, Racing Bulls are preparing to attack the Ardennes classic with renewed energy. Whether the weather cooperates or not, Spa could prove a pivotal moment in their campaign.
