Is Red Bull already thinking about the 2026 Formula 1 championship? Pierre Waché’s comments. Pierre Waché, Red Bull’s technical director, has clarified the upcoming objectives for 2025.

Pierre Wache, Red Bull F1 technical director

2026 will be a year full of changes for all F1 teams, as the new regulations will come into effect. The teams do not want to be caught unprepared, so they must already think of a plan to balance car development without compromising the 2025 season. Pierre Waché spoke about Red Bull’s future plans in an interview with Autosport.

Red Bull aims to be competitive again in the Constructors’ Championship. In 2024, after a strong start to the season, they were unable to prevail over their rivals. Pierre Waché’s words convey the team’s determination to bounce back in 2025 after finishing third last year.

In his interview with Autosport, Pierre Waché discussed the decision Red Bull will have to make: focus on 2025 or 2026? The technical director stated: “If we have the opportunity to fight for the 2025 championship—and I believe we will—then we would never throw away a title challenge. It will certainly be a tough choice. We will start the season with a strategy, but that strategy has a high chance of changing.” – he pointed out.

Finishing third in the Constructors’ Championship gives Red Bull more wind tunnel time compared to McLaren and Ferrari. However, Pierre Waché pointed out that this does not guarantee success in the following season: “Just because you have more money or more time in the wind tunnel doesn’t mean you will perform better. Otherwise, the teams at the back of the grid would always be at the top the following year.” For Red Bull, this will certainly be an advantage for 2026 compared to their main rivals in the Constructors’ Championship, but everything remains to be seen.
