Is Adrian Newey already impacting Aston Martin’s performance in Formula 1?. Adrian Newey makes his first race weekend appearance with Aston Martin in Monaco.

A new beginning
For the first time since confirming his move to Aston Martin as a technical partner, Adrian Newey is attending a race weekend with his new team. On Thursday in Monte Carlo, the British designer arrived in the paddock accompanied by his wife Amanda and will now have the chance to closely observe the team’s trackside operations.

What will Adrian Newey do in Monte Carlo?
Adrian Newey’s presence will not just be symbolic, but active, as team principal Andy Cowell explained: “He’ll be observing how we operate in the context of a race weekend—from how we optimise the car to our strategies. Thanks to his experience and insight, by seeing what works and what doesn’t, he’ll help us draw up a list of areas to work on to become a stronger team.”

A special advisor
Many have speculated that Adrian Newey had a hand in the step forward in Aston Martin’s performance seen at Imola. Cowell didn’t deny it: “Our lunchtime conversations weren’t just about what he was eating, but also involved discussions about the current car, the 2025 one, and the problems it had.”

At the last Grand Prix, the AMR25 featured updates to the floor, diffuser, bodywork, and beam wing.
