Important update on Franco Colapinto’s role at Alpine for 2025 F1 season. Franco Colapinto is confirmed to remain with Alpine for the 2025 Formula 1 season.

Franco Colapinto, 2024 F1

Important developments have emerged regarding the future of Franco Colapinto with the Alpine Formula 1 team, specifically related to the 2025 racing season. In the midst of an intense and highly anticipated driver market period, all eyes remain focused on Max Verstappen and Mercedes, while Cadillac is also preparing to reveal its driver lineup for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, Franco Colapinto has received a key update confirming the likelihood of his continued involvement with Alpine in 2025.

The Argentine driver made his Formula 1 debut at the Imola Grand Prix, stepping in to replace Jack Doohan. Unfortunately, his start was challenging, marked by a significant accident during qualifying at his first weekend back in the pinnacle of motorsport. Subsequent results have not fully met expectations, though much of this has been attributed to a car that has struggled with performance issues and has been difficult to drive consistently.

Latest News from Argentina

In a recent interview broadcast on the “Lovest” channel, Pablo Sibilla, Chief Executive Officer of Renault Argentina, provided clarity on Franco Colapinto’s standing within the Alpine team for 2025. Sibilla confirmed that the young driver is expected to complete the current Formula 1 season with the French outfit. This statement effectively dismisses earlier speculation about Valtteri Bottas possibly taking over Colapinto’s seat. The Finnish veteran now appears set on securing a drive with the Cadillac Formula 1 team.

Pablo Sibilla also mentioned an upcoming special motorsport event that will take place on the streets of Buenos Aires, in which Franco Colapinto is expected to be involved. Although official confirmation has yet to be released, this event is generating excitement among Argentine fans. Additionally, this news seems to quash rumors, previously circulated by journalist Carlo Vanzini, about Jack Doohan potentially returning to Alpine for the Belgian Grand Prix.

Pierre Gasly, Franco Colapinto’s teammate at Alpine, inadvertently shed some light on the difficulties faced by the Argentine driver. According to Gasly, the Alpine A523 car is prone to making mistakes easy to commit during races. Franco was showing signs of gradual improvement in his driving performance, but unfortunately, a qualifying error at the British Grand Prix in Silverstone, coupled with a race retirement, erased much of the progress he had made up to that point.

With confirmation from Renault Argentina’s CEO and ongoing support within the Alpine team, Franco Colapinto’s prospects for continuing his Formula 1 career into the 2025 season look increasingly promising. Fans and insiders alike will be watching closely to see how the Argentine driver develops further as he gains more experience behind the wheel of Alpine’s 2025 Formula 1 challenger.
