Honda unveils the new 2026 power unit: When and where to watch the event

An unusual event has just been announced by Honda this morning. While new Formula 1 cars are typically unveiled shortly before their official debut, Honda has surprised everyone with this unexpected presentation. Together with Aston Martin, the Japanese manufacturer will showcase the power unit that will propel the team into the 2026 season.

Aston Martin has already confirmed the date for unveiling its full 2026 challenger. The Silverstone-based squad has planned an event in Saudi Arabia on February 9. However, before fans get their first glimpse of Adrian Newey’s initial creation for the team, there will be an exciting preview of the new F1 era on January 20 to celebrate the fresh partnership between Honda and Aston Martin.

The presentation

The 2026 season represents a massive revolution in the power unit department for Formula 1. The new regulations will dramatically alter not only the car designs compared to the current generation but especially the technical components under the hood. To tackle this exciting new challenge, Aston Martin has partnered with Honda for its power unit supply. The collaboration between Honda and Red Bull officially came to an end with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Aston Martin had already teased fans earlier through its social media channels with a preview of the 2026 power unit, sharing the distinctive sound of the new engine firing up. Now, Honda and Aston Martin have added another piece to the puzzle, inviting all Formula 1 enthusiasts to tune in on January 20 in Tokyo. This one-of-a-kind event is expected to feature key figures including Lawrence Stroll, Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, and Toshihiro Mibe, CEO of Honda Motor Corporation, according to early reports.

The event will be broadcast live via streaming on YouTube, available in both English and Japanese, making it accessible to fans worldwide as Honda kicks off its full works return to the pinnacle of motorsport.
