Red Bull at the end of a cycle?
If Red Bull secured its second quadruple championship in its brief F1 history, it’s thanks to the points amassed early in the season by Max Verstappen. With a 52-point cushion over Lando Norris (despite the zero at Melbourne), defended resolutely by the world champion through crucial placements and fierce duels with #4, the Dutchman matched Sebastian Vettel by winning his fourth consecutive drivers’ title with the Milton Keynes team.
Now, however, everything resets, and Max Verstappen’s path could become much more challenging. His chances for another title depend on Red Bull’s ability to overcome the struggles of the RB20, which failed to hold off McLaren and Ferrari’s comeback in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship.
Helmut Marko’s comments
Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko shared his thoughts on the 2025 car and the expectations surrounding the RB21 in Milton Keynes: “The basic concept is ready. The car is practically finished and is now moving to final production. At that point, we’ll see how much weight we can shave off. The engineers’ task was to design a car with a broader operating window, one that isn’t so on the edge as to make control extremely difficult for the drivers,” the Austrian told *Sport1*. “This ensures better predictability and, as McLaren has demonstrated, the ability to deliver performance across all tracks.”
One of the RB20’s issues, its behavior over curbs, should be a thing of the past: “Max stated that the car was hopping like a kangaroo, and on certain tracks, this cost us significant time. We believe these weaknesses have been addressed, but we’ll only know for sure during testing in Bahrain.”
