From Milton Keynes to Silverstone. After Adrian Newey, Max Verstappen could also leave Red Bull to join an Aston Martin willing to go to great lengths to snatch the four-time world champion from Helmut Marko’s hands. The team owned by Lawrence Stroll has reportedly sent a billion-dollar offer to the Dutchman’s entourage in an attempt to secure the most successful driver of recent years.
The news quickly spread worldwide, bouncing between confirmations and denials. The latest to comment on the matter was Christian Horner during the F1 event at the O2 Arena in London. “These are staggering figures, but I know you guys have newspapers to sell,” said the Red Bull Team Principal, making a quip at the journalists.
According to Helmut Marko, someone else is behind it
Marko echoed Horner’s words, using his usual bluntness to share his thoughts on the situation. “It’s no secret that Adrian Newey is a big fan of Max,” the Red Bull advisor told Motorsport-Total. “So it doesn’t surprise me that he wants to bring him to Aston Martin.”
“At the same time, I have my doubts about the figures being reported lately. They say it’s a very significant offer, but the actual amount is unknown,” Helmut Marko added.
