Horner the perfect choice for Sky F1, says Steiner
Following the end of the long partnership between Christian Horner and Red Bull, speculation about the future of the former British team principal is growing. Officially free from any contractual obligations, Horner appears to have taken a break to spend time with his family, but his name remains strongly linked to the Formula 1 paddock. According to several sources, including PlanetF1, his separation deal is reportedly worth around $100 million, a compensation that allows him the freedom to return to the Circus as early as 2026. Meanwhile, curiosity is rising about his next move: a return to team management or a new media role?
Steiner wants him on TV: “Perfect for Sky F1”
Guenther Steiner, former Haas team principal and now a TV personality, is convinced that Horner would be the ideal choice to enhance Sky F1 coverage. In an interview on the Red Flags podcast, Guenther Steiner highlighted Christian Horner’s combination of expertise, British spirit, and strong personality—qualities that perfectly suit an English-speaking audience. He stated that Horner could easily work on television, being both charismatic and deeply knowledgeable about the sport. The idea of seeing him in the studio, perhaps alongside former drivers like Nico Rosberg or Jacques Villeneuve, excites many fans, as his frankness and willingness to engage in direct debate could bring liveliness to post-race discussions that are often too formal.
The return of a divisive but indispensable personality
Despite differences with some rivals, including Toto Wolff, even those who never particularly liked Horner recognize his impact on Formula 1’s spectacle. Mercedes’ Austrian executive admitted that Christian Horner’s absence “has left a void,” describing him as a figure as important as a top driver. With Red Bull now led by Laurent Mekies and Max Verstappen in outstanding form, the sport has lost one of its strongest and most controversial voices. A return of Horner, even just as a pundit, could bring back that charisma and unpredictability to the paddock, reminding fans why Formula 1 thrives on passion, rivalries, and strong personalities.
