Russell: “Proud of second in constructors. In 2026 we will aim higher”
George Russell briefly reflected on his season through a post shared on his social media channels. Although Mercedes was not the absolute protagonist, the British driver built a solid and competitive championship. The numbers speak for themselves: in 24 rounds, he achieved 7 podiums and 2 victories (in Canada and Singapore, respectively).
This year, #63 also had Kimi Antonelli by his side. The rookie season was not easy for the Italian, who faced a difficult moment mid-season. However, the support from the team and his teammate was crucial in helping him regain confidence with the car. Thanks to his renewed competitiveness, Mercedes managed to secure second place in the Constructors’ Championship, beating direct rivals. While not the title, this result rewards the team’s efforts and the driver pairing, who are already looking ahead to 2026.
Celebrating second in constructors and looking forward to 2026
“2025 is done. I’m pleased to bring home second place for the team in the Constructors’ Championship! Next year, we will aim to achieve even better results. It’s been quite an eventful year, with some incredible moments and many lessons learned,” George Russell wrote in his post. “I’m proud to have scored 2 wins and 9 podiums. We pushed the limits and kept fighting together as a team, race after race. We couldn’t have done it without the incredible people working behind the scenes, on track and at the base. Thanks to the team for the hard work and dedication! Here’s to many more glorious memories in 2026!” – the British driver pointed out following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
With the massive regulation change coming next winter and Mercedes showing genuine signs of closing the gap in the second half of 2025, George Russell’s final line feels less like polite optimism and more like a genuine statement of intent. The Silver Arrows are coming.
