A special spectator
The Madrid derby between Real and Atletico took place yesterday at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, ending in a 1-1 draw with goals from Julián Álvarez—via penalty—and Kylian Mbappé. Among the spectators was Mercedes driver George Russell. The Briton, who will take on the role of Brackley’s “captain” following Lewis Hamilton’s departure, was not there by chance.
A matter of sponsorship
Mercedes has just signed a major partnership with Adidas, which will provide suits and apparel for the entire team. The German brand is also a long-standing technical partner of Real Madrid, a collaboration that has been ongoing since 1998. It was no coincidence that George Russell showed up at the stadium dressed entirely in Herzogenaurach-based Adidas gear.
The season is about to begin
For #63, these are the last days of relaxation before official activities resume. On February 18, Russell will be in London, along with all the other drivers, for Formula 1’s official season launch event. On February 24, Mercedes will officially unveil the new W16, followed by pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 26 to 28, leading up to the first Grand Prix of 2025 in Australia on March 16.
