OMP announces agreement with Adidas for Mercedes apparel
The Italian company OMP will produce the new fireproof suits, drivers’ gloves, and all technical apparel for Mercedes in collaboration with Adidas. The drivers and mechanics of the Brackley-based team, which recently announced the end of its long partnership with Puma to switch to the historic rival brand making its debut in Formula 1, will not only be branded with the “three stripes” logo but will also wear a significant touch of Made in Italy. OMP, headquartered in Ronco Scrivia near Genoa, will manufacture all the racewear technical apparel for Mercedes on behalf of Adidas.
Antonelli, a standard-bearer for Made in Italy
The multi-year collaboration agreement will bring the OMP brand to the suits, gloves, shoes, and all technical apparel available to Mercedes drivers (here is our dossier on fashion sector companies in the paddock). A special case is Andrea Kimi Antonelli, who, in addition to bringing Italy back to F1 after a three-year absence—the last Italian on the grid was Antonio Giovinazzi, who raced until 2021 with Alfa Romeo Sauber—will be fully equipped with Italian-made gear, just like his teammate George Russell. The two Mercedes F1 drivers, besides wearing OMP x Adidas suits, gloves, and shoes, will also use Bell Helmets, another company that is part of the same Italian Racing Force Group.
New OMP x Adidas suits in February
“It is truly extraordinary,” commented Paolo Delprato, president and CEO of Racing Force Group, “that one of the world’s most renowned sportswear brands has chosen to rely on OMP for its entry into motorsport, confirming the value of our engineering capabilities and our experience in one of the most competitive environments. OMP and Adidas Motorsport share the goal of setting new benchmarks for safety and performance in the industry.” The new suits, produced by OMP in partnership with Adidas for Mercedes, will be unveiled in February ahead of the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
