Maria Catarineu is more than certain about Franco Colapinto’s future in Formula 1.
Despite Franco Colapinto’s two serious crashes in last weekend’s Brazil event, his manager, asked about his future on the ‘Campeones TV’ show, gave a definitive answer that spoke volumes: “How likely is it that Franco Colapinto will race in 2025 on a scale of 1 to 10? 20.”
No contract signed yet
She added: “What is certain is that we are with Williams and will continue with Williams. It’s no secret, as you can see, that there’s a very strong desire for Franco to continue in Formula 1 in 2025.”
Despite the rumors, Maria Catarineu denied any signed agreement: “It’s a topic that isn’t a secret and is, of course, being worked on, but right now, I’d say that nothing is signed. I want to dispel the rumors that anything has been signed. We’re with Williams and will continue with them for the time being.”
She continued, “Williams is the first to want the best for Franco. It’s a great team that we feel close to, and as we’re seeing, Williams’ results keep improving. I know they intend to find the best arrangement for Franco’s future, however that might look.”
“Williams is well aware that Franco deserves to be in Formula 1 and is working to make it possible. However, at the moment, nothing is confirmed, and I can’t confirm anything.”
Regarding Christian Horner’s visit to the Williams motorhome at Interlagos, she commented: “In the end, it’s simply teams talking to each other. It’s very common in Formula 1, and I believe James Vowles is just trying to help Franco since he’s a Williams driver.”
“They’re trying to position Franco in the best possible way, and it’s very common for them to have conversations and work toward an agreement if they want to make one.”
A future with Red Bull in 2025?
“I know James has stated in some media that he’s negotiating with several teams, but he should be the one to tell us which teams he’s talking to,” the manager added.
“It’s clear that they’re exploring multiple scenarios. But everyone needs to understand that there’s strong interest from all sides for Franco to stay in Formula 1 in 2025. I believe the public wants it, Formula 1 wants it, and Williams wants it because, in the end, they want what’s best for Franco.”
