Franco Colapinto responded to questions about his F1 future on the eve of the 2024 Formula Brazilian Grand Prix. His future in F1 is one of the hottest topics in the paddock. The Argentine has impressed everyone since his debut in the top series, but at the moment, he doesn’t have a seat for the 2025 campaign.
There are, however, rumors surrounding him. In particular, there’s talk of strong interest from Red Bull, confirmed by Horner, who reportedly offered a significant amount to lure the young talent away from Williams.
Will Williams Release Fraco Colapinto?
When asked about rumors regarding his F1 future and whether Williams would allow his transfer to another team, Franco Colapinto responded:
“Well, I don’t think I’m the person to ask,” the Argentine driver explained. “Naturally, I don’t know the answer, but I think that yes, if Williams can’t offer me a significant seat, then the normal thing would be to allow me to go elsewhere and find the best opportunity for my future. But I’m not the right person to ask. I should be the last.” – he pointed out.
“I’m here with Williams this weekend, and I’ll try to do my best here in Brazil. It’s a very exciting race, with a great atmosphere, and I can’t wait to drive the Williams at Interlagos. I thought I wouldn’t be racing in F1 next year, and that’s still my thinking. I’m not too excited by what’s being said around me. But yes, we’ll see.” – the Argentine driver added ahead of the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend.
No Pressure About the Future
Speaking about where he’d like to be next year, Franco Colapinto reiterated his desire to remain in the paddock but also not feeling any pressure.
“I’d like to be in F1. I came in very late this year and got an extraordinary opportunity from Williams and James. When all the team members gave me their trust and put me in that seat… I got an opportunity I didn’t expect to have this year. I’m trying to do my best and get the best results possible to prove I deserve it. That’s what I’m aiming for, and if it doesn’t happen next year, I hope it will in ’26 or ’27. I don’t have much pressure or anything like that,” the Argentine concluded. “I’m trying to enjoy the moment and the opportunity I have. It was my dream from a very young age to drive an F1 car, and now to be here competing in these last nine races is really special. So, I’m just having fun.” – the Williams driver concluded.
