Alpine looking for confirmation in Monaco
Alpine has undergone a remarkable transformation compared to the 2025 Formula 1 season. The French team has scored points at every race weekend so far in the 2026 championship and is now aiming to continue that momentum at what can almost be considered its home event, even though the race takes place in the Principality of Monaco.
Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto will face the unique challenge of the Monaco street circuit, one of the most demanding and iconic venues on the Formula 1 calendar. The narrow layout punishes even the smallest driving mistakes and leaves teams with virtually no margin for strategic errors.
Colapinto arrives in Monaco with growing confidence after collecting 14 points across the Miami and Canadian Grands Prix. Those results have significantly reduced the gap to teammate Pierre Gasly in the drivers’ standings and strengthened the Argentine driver’s position within the team.
Colapinto aiming to keep the momentum going
“We want to maintain this momentum. I was back on the simulator on the Monday after Montreal. I returned straight to Enstone to spend more time with the team and prepare for the start of the intense European part of the season,” said the Argentine driver.
“Monaco is one of the most exciting events for any driver, with the barriers so close to the track. I can’t wait to experience what this circuit feels like with this year’s cars, which are lighter and more agile.
“We will return to a traditional race weekend format, which means we’ll have more opportunities to build confidence with the circuit and improve session after session. That is the key to making sure we arrive at qualifying ready to push at the absolute limit. Our objective is to finish in the top 10 once again.”
Gasly eager for one of his favourite races of the year
Pierre Gasly is equally enthusiastic about the challenge awaiting Alpine in Monaco and highlighted the importance of qualifying around the famous street circuit.
“I’m really looking forward to the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend. It’s one of my favourite races of the season,” Gasly said.
“Qualifying is obviously one of the highlights for us drivers because it is where we push ourselves to the absolute limit. You experience an incredible adrenaline rush that only a few people in the world are fortunate enough to feel.
“Last week I spent some time at Enstone working on the simulator and with the engineers, focusing on several areas to improve my feeling with the car compared to Montreal. We dedicated many hours to preparing for the Monaco and Barcelona double-header, where our goal is to continue our points-scoring streak.”
With Alpine continuing to establish itself as one of the most consistent midfield teams of the 2026 Formula 1 season, the Monaco Grand Prix will provide another important opportunity to demonstrate the progress made by the Enstone-based outfit and strengthen its position in the championship standings.
