FIA action begins early in Miami amid heavy rain
While heavy rain began to fall in Miami, the work of the FIA stewards started early in the day. At 07:00 local time, as previously reported, Isack Hadjar and a representative of the Red Bull team appeared at the FIA offices.
FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer had reported a possible irregularity on car number 6 during post-qualifying scrutineering. During the hearing, the team representatives did not dispute the findings of the technical delegate.
Technical infringement confirmed on RB22
According to the FIA report, certain sections of the floor edge, on both the left and right side of the car, were found to exceed the permitted “RV Floor Bodywork” reference volume by 2 mm.
This was deemed a breach of Article C3.5.5 of the FIA Formula 1 Technical Regulations.
Maximum penalty applied: disqualification
As a result, the stewards applied the maximum penalty available: disqualification of the car from the qualifying session.
After accepting the decision, the Austrian team, following standard procedure, submitted a request for their driver to be allowed to start the race scheduled for later today.
