Despite finishing in the points with a 10th place at the United States Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso did not express full satisfaction with the final result. The two-time world champion showed determination, but the Spaniard’s mood reflected his frustration at earning only a single point.
A point that doesn’t excite Alonso
There is no room for the word “giving up” in Fernando Alonso’s vocabulary. After securing 7th place in Singapore, Fernando Alonso managed another points finish in Austin, securing 10th place overall. While this demonstrates the determination and skill of the 44-year-old, especially in managing the return of Liam Lawson and other competitors, Fernando Alonso was clearly disappointed with the outcome of the race.
“We started tenth and finished tenth, so in the end we took home just one point. We didn’t have the pace to fight for anything higher than tenth, and it seems our qualifying performance was slightly better than our race pace. It wasn’t an exciting day for me, and we were open to trying different strategies, but it turned into a standard one-stop race. We’ll go to Mexico and see if we can fight for points there,” Fernando Alonso commented after the checkered flag, already looking ahead to the Mexican Grand Prix.
Weekend more challenging for Lance Stroll
Lance Stroll experienced a tougher weekend, finishing 12th after making contact with Esteban Ocon during the Sprint Race. “It was an entertaining race: we pushed hard with some good overtakes and gained a couple of positions. We were close to reaching the points, but it was always going to be difficult from where we started. We did our best. The car felt good today and became a bit more responsive with the change in wind direction. Overall, it was a positive Sunday considering yesterday’s events, and now we look ahead to Mexico next week,” Stroll said.
