Max Verstappen celebrated a major milestone at the Hungarian Grand Prix: 200 races completed with Red Bull Racing. The world champion team marked this achievement with a special episode of the series Behind the Charge, which traced the “Verstappen era” and his remarkable successes, including four world championships and 65 race wins.
Although the Budapest race was not a standout performance for the Dutch driver, the testimonies collected for the anniversary offered a different perspective on his personality. Alex Albon, Verstappen’s teammate between 2019 and 2020, described him as “perhaps the most misunderstood driver on the grid,” highlighting how his reserved nature can give the wrong impression: “Maybe because he doesn’t like all those media things. And I don’t blame him for that.”
Also speaking were two rookies closely connected to Max Verstappen. Isack Hadjar, driving for the Racing Bulls development program, shared how approachable the champion is: “If I need advice or want to ask something, he is always open and ready to help.”
Gabriel Bortoleto, a Sauber driver and friend of Max Verstappen thanks to their shared passion for gaming, revealed a side often invisible to the public: “Maybe he doesn’t show it to the cameras, but he has a huge heart for young drivers and a strong desire to lend a hand.”
Behind the image of the aggressive superstar on the track and sometimes outspoken with the media, emerges a Max Verstappen who is willing to share his experience with the new generation of drivers. This human side, according to those who know him well, deserves to be told as much as his sporting achievements.
