Jack Doohan Stays
When Alpine officially announced Franco Colapinto as their third driver last January, many observers predicted that Jack Doohan would leave the team after just a few races in the 2025 season. Even Flavio Briatore seemed unconvinced, with his “we’ll see” response earlier in the year when asked about his trust in the Australian driver.
Since then, five races have passed. Jack Doohan has not scored any points, shown some flashes of speed, but also encountered a few incidents. He will still be behind the wheel of the Alpine at Miami, and according to the latest rumors, his future seems secure at least until the summer.
Paddock Rumors
The behind-the-scenes details of Jack Doohan’s confirmation were shared by none other than Ralf Schumacher, on the Backstage Pitlane podcast for Sky Germany. “I don’t want to be harsh like Helmut Marko, who called him a third-class driver, because I think he is a good driver. But I believe that compared to other rookies, it’s clear he might not finish the season. I’ve heard that Jack Doohan has €10 million in sponsorship, and if no more money comes from Franco Colapinto, he will stay with the team. In any case, Flavio Briatore is always good at surprising.”
