F1 Mexico GP chaos: marshals on track as Liam Lawson narrowly avoids hitting them. Shocking moment during the Mexican GP.

Liam Lawson, 2024 F1

What a terrifying moment in Mexico. During the Mexican Grand Prix, two marshals crossed the track right as Liam Lawson’s VCARB was approaching. “What the f***?!” exclaimed the New Zealander over the team radio after the shocking incident that raised serious safety concerns.

Following a chaotic start to the race, Liam Lawson’s Racing Bulls car was forced to pit early for an unscheduled stop. The #30 fitted a set of Hard tyres and exited the pit lane, but what awaited him was completely unexpected: two marshals suddenly stepped onto the track just a few meters ahead of his car. The reaction over the radio was one of disbelief at such a dangerous situation in a Formula 1 race.

It was a chaotic afternoon in Mexico, marked by harsh penalties, intense wheel-to-wheel battles, and now, a frightening near-miss. At the end of the third lap, the Racing Bulls driver entered the pit lane for what would be his only stop of the race. The Red Bull junior mounted a new set of Hard tyres, unaware that a shocking surprise was waiting for him as he exited Turn 1.

Marshals on track, Liam Lawson stunned on the radio: “Are you kidding me?!”

As he approached the first corner of the Mexican circuit, Lawson was left speechless when he saw two marshals crossing the track only meters in front of his car. The 2002-born driver immediately reacted on the radio, shouting: “What the f***! Oh my God, are you kidding me?! Did you see that?! I could have killed them!”

Fortunately, Lawson managed to avoid the marshals, who had just finished crossing the circuit. However, the incident represents an unacceptable safety risk for a Formula 1 Grand Prix. The near-tragedy will likely be investigated by race organizers, who must ensure that such a dangerous situation never happens again.
